Sharing a Room

When Tracen turned 2 we specifically got him bunk beds as his new big boy bed. I was pregnant with Skylor and knew I wanted them to share a room one day.

I use to beg my mom for bunk beds growing up. She always said fine but you will have to share a room with your brother. I never liked that idea so I always passed when she made that comment.

Ever since we moved Tracen out from his crib and into his bed he's been in our bed 90% of the time. If he sleeps through the night in his own bed we know it's because he was exhausted from the day before.

Skylor is three and a half is still going strong sleeping in his crib. When we moved into our new house he was about 8 months old and strictly bed shared or co-slept  next to us. I had him in his crib for the occasional nap but he never actually slept in his crib. When we moved I think Jerek said something like 'we should probably put Sky in his own bed now right? Don't you want to have the bed to ourselves again?' I most likely looked at him and laughed because it wasn't like Tracen really slept in his bed, so who cared if there was one or two in our bed, the more the merrier in my opinion!

If it's not broke, don't fix it. That's how the saying goes right?

Anywho.

Sky has never crawled or fallen out of his crib, he loves his bed! When he was little we would be in the living room and he'd point to the ceiling and say night night, meaning he wanted us to take him upstairs to his room and put him to bed. Yes, my child use to ASK me to go to bed.

You can see why I'm having a hard time saying bye to the crib.

Sky will stay up for an hour or more after we put him to bed and play PJ masks with his stuffed animals. I'm sure you've seen on Snap or a vlog where I'm standing outside his bedroom recording him yelling "you'll never get me PJ Masks! mauhhahahahah"  Some nights he goes to bed with a couple plastic dinosaurs, a huge monster truck and a couple books.

So many parents are all like 'you let him bring toys to bed? It's bedtime though, he needs to sleep'

I will politely let them know that my kid has been sleeping through the night since he was a few months old and usually at 12 hours a day with a 2-3 hour nap. Ask me again if I care that he brings the whole damn toy box to bed.

No. No I do not care!

Jerek bought the boys new bed sheets for Christmas and when I asked him what size he got Skylor (crib or twin) he said Paw Patrol and then I think whispered twin and held his breath. He knows I'm dreading the change from the crib to a bed.

I know I know, it's probably time but I literally can't let go of this kid. Sometimes I pick up 18 month old clothes and put them in my cart at Target and convince myself that's his size. I bought an Ergo for $8 at a mom to mom sale the other week (in mint condition, a steal really!) and carried Sky around the farmers market in it.

I'm a lunatic, I get it.

I've been going back and forth on when we will transition him to the new bed and here are the options I'm dealing with.

1. Take bunk beds apart (Tracen refuses to sleep on the top) and put them side by side in Tracen's current room and make them a new room (Tracen's is bigger) New paint, decorations etc. It would be THEIR new room together, the big boy's room.

2. Take bunk beds apart and put one in Sky's room. Redo his room to make it a big boy room with new decorations, paint, etc.

3. Buy another king size bed and make our bedroom one big old bed-sharing room for all of us to sleep in and never let them grow up.

I personally like option 3, Jerek, not so much.

Now here are my concerns with these options.

1. I STILL have to sit in Tracen's room till he passes out at night or he won't go to sleep. As long as I do, it takes about 15 min after I say good night and he's out. If I add Sky into the room he would stay up for probably 45 min after lights out and play. Which I don't care about but this would probably keep Tracen up, which would then keep me in there till they both passed out, which would then cut into my time watching Shameless spending time with Jerek.

2. If we put Skylor in Tracen's room I don't know if Tracen will get all crazy and say this isn't YOUR room, this is MY room and then resent me for it and go crazy

3. Will I be mentally stable if this all goes well and the kids stop coming into our bed at 2am and will you find me on the floor of their new room sleeping with them.

As you can see I'm clearly insane and we should probably just keep things the way they are. I promise to stop buying infant carriers for kids that are half my height and we can all move on with our lives.

Sincerely,

20 Questions: 4 years old

Hey, it's me, Chelsea...I've fell off my blog/vlogmas for a bit as things have been a bit harry around these bits of blogland and I'm up to my tits in toys from Christmas and Tracen's birthday. While I'm off till January 5th I have it planned out that we will be going through all books, toys and clothes and purging some more, I seriously can't get enough of this lately!

This past Sunday was Tracen's 4th birthday and as I said in my December goals we had a fun little party planned! The theme was PJ's & Pancakes, and yes, I came up with the idea. We are a big breakfast/brunch family and tend to live in our PJ's on the weekends {slash right when we get home from work.} If you haven't seen the video I made for Tracen here it is again. I cried about a bajillion times while making it, so you've been warned!

I pin a lot of things but I also tend to forget about things until months or in this case a year later. I pinned this last year thinking, 'I need to do this, I really hope I remember when Tracen turns three.' I remembered the pin about 6 months ago and figured I would just wait till he's four. Since it's been 6 days post fourth birthday, it is time for the 20 Q & A to begin!

This idea is strictly taken from the amazing blog Reaves, Party of Three so I can't take any credit for thinking of this on my own. If you are anything like me, here is your reminder for all those pins you keep forgetting about and maybe you pinned this one last year too!

Things I'm Sick of Saying

Last week I posted about shit my toddler says. While most of you probably nodded your heads and realized these damn toddlers are all the same some of you were probably saying 'Chelsea, what about us, what about the shit WE say!'

Don't worry, I didn't forget about you, ohhh I promise I didn't forget about you! If I told you I felt like I was turning into my mother would you believe me? Probably. Because I am. Sometimes under my breath I mutter, because I said so! Or because I'm the mom Tracen, OKAYYYYY!' Lately I've been busting out the old 'go ask your dad' card! If I got paid every time I said the following things I would probably be as rich as Kelsey Zachow.

"We don't hug Skylor's neck, you're going to hurt him"
"Stop screaming. You're inside, if you want to scream go outside"
"It's time to go read books and go to bed"
"No, you've watched enough Peppa Pig"
"We don't stick our head in the potty, it's yucky in there"
"Stop touching your wiener."
"Tracen, put clothes on"
"Did you just bootay toot?"
"There's no way your're still hungry!?'
"You ate all the fruit dude, sorry!"
"We don't eat dog food Skylor"
"No, you had enough ice cream."
"Please stop jumping on the couch"  x7357456078247325756745
"Honestly, what more could you possibly eat right now Tracen!?"
"Don't touch mommy's makeup"
"Stop whipping your face on my clothes"
"We don't play in the trash Skylor"
"We don't throw blocks"
"We don't throw books"
"We don't throw anything"
"Put it down please, I don't want glitter everywhere"
"The park is closed"
"The Slurpee store is closed"
"Kai Lan is on vacation...still"
"Can I have my pillow back?"
"Give Trey his sippy back Sky"
"Put the cushions back on the couch"
"Can everyone just leave me alone for two seconds!!!!!!"
"Can I pee alone pleaseeeee!"
"I'm sorry but I can't hold you both, get milk and peel a banana guys."
"Flush the toilet"
"Put the seat down when you're done."
"You sure do poop a lot."
"Sky, how did you blow your pants out...AGAIN!"
"NOT IT!"
"Whats for dinner" (haha)
"There's no where to get married"
"I wish we had more money"
"I'm sick of doing dishes"
"Do we haveeee to watch Ancient Aliens..."
"All you boys drive me insane! Yes Ducati, even you!"
"Stop kicking my chair"

This post might be 100 pages long if I continue so I'm going to stop there! While all these boys drive me crazy on the daily I wouldn't have it any other way! I know one day its going to be me and Jerek and we're going to be bored as hell driving to colleges and different cities trying BEGGING our kids to hang out with us. So for now I'll just complain on here until the time comes and ya'll can tell me that you told me so!

Shit My Toddler Says

When I was younger I always wondered why my mom said the things she said. Didn't she ever get tired of telling me no? Didn't she get sick of me always being home because she grounded me...AGAIN! Didn't she get tired of explaining things to me when I asked why, or because, or how come? The answer is yes, yes she probably did. That's also probably why the words 'because I said so/I'm the mom' were muttered very often. I always swore I would 'never say those things when I'M a mom!'

I never understood why though. Why not just explain to me why I can't watch TV till midnight or why I can't have ice cream for dinner or why I was always grounded for talking too much in school {because I always was!}

Now I get it.
I really get it.

Over the past mmmmmmm 6 months I have to say, I've been compiling a list in my phone of the lovely shit that pours out of Tracen's mouth on the reg. I want to preface here and let you know that I've never told him to shut up, although I'm dying to, bad right. I must be some horrible mom for wanting to just yell 'shut the hell up! Can't you just stop talking for ONE minute!!!' Really though, if you've never thought these things than you're not a mom of a toddler. Or you're a saint, one of the two.

So if he gets his looks from his dad he must get his mouth from me, because he really doesn't ever shut up! It's hard to question the things that come out of his mouth, he's his mothers son after all!

'I'm going to sleep in my bed tonight'

'How did I get in your belly, there are no doors?'

'do you have a wiener?

'I want dat'

'wanna see my dupa?'
'wanna see my dupa?'
'wanna see my dupa?'
{drops pants to the ground and spreads his buttcheeks
and LAUGHS!- NOOOO idea who taught him that-SWEAR!!!}

'I'm hungry.
what can I eat.
I'm done.
what else can I eat.
still hungry mom.
mom
mom
moooooommmm!!!

'can I have some water?
'can I have some juice?
'can I have some milk?'

'Sky hit me'

'I didn't push him, I promise!'

'but do I get a prize if I listen?'

'I'm gonna toot on you!'

"Sky took that from me, I had it fwist'

'where are you going?'

'I'm going to close my eyes now and go to bed.
Don't go in your room with daddy, it's not fair he gets
to snuggle you'

{next morning}

'why did you leave my room, you didn't wisten to me moommmm'

'I GOTTA PEEEEEE, PAUSE MY SHOWWWWWW!!!'

'how much is dat?
do you got any moneies
can we buy it?'

'can we ride sandy?
{not today buddy}
you don't have a penny??'
{SCREAMSSSSSS}
{cashier gives us pennies}

'we don't say hate mommy, we say we don't like'

'i wanna see Mia'
'i wanna see Gwiffin'
'i wanna see Mimi'
'i wanna see Amy'
'i wanna see Grammy'

'what are we doing today?'

'is is sucker day?
is it pizza party Friday?'

'why do I have to go to school?'

'can you stay home and play today?'

'can we go to Target?
do we have to go to the coffee store first?'

'awww you're a sweetie'

'you're my best mommy I ever did have!'

While some of this is usually caught on camera a lot of it isn't and if you know Tracen personally you can probably hear him screaming saying most of these things in your head. Some days I want to tell him to shut it and stop asking me another question or I'm going to loose my mind, but I refrain because if you see this sweet face everyday, how could you stay mad at him for more than 30 seconds!

I'm alive, I promise.

If you only read my blog you might think woah woah woah, where the hell did this lady go?? But I'm here I promise! I've been updating on Instgram, Twitter, and on Youtube but EWG just hasn't gotten any love these past few weeks. It's not because I haven't had things to say, I really have. We've just been really busy and I was having really bad anxiety with the trip to Mexico.

As some may know from my previous post I was in Mexico this week for work {Tuesday-Friday.} While people's first response is usually Uh, that's sweet, where do you work, I wanna work there?! I respond with an I work in automotive and were going to visit car/truck plants, not the beach. This also means I'll be working longer hours than I do at home so don't be jealous, PROMISE.

I'll give you a very short rundown.

My boss and I fly from Detroit to Monterrey at 830am Tuesday.
We then take a car driven by a secured driver from our company for an hour to our hotel.
We are told we don't have a reservation till Nov 17 {we're there Nov 11-14.}
AWESOME.
Our travel agent checks everything nearby.
Everything is booked but the Quality Inn.
The Quality Inn wasn't the best quality, if you get my drift.
The wifi is rubbish and 1 in 10 texts go through to check on Jer and the boys.
I sleep less here alone than I do at home with both kids always getting up.
This is for 2 days straight.
We visit warehouses and truck plants and I feel like I'm naked walking through them.
Such a great feeling when your in a foreign country and the news is telling you 'stay out of Mexico!'
We spend the last night in the hotel we first started at, it's WAY nicer.
I sleep like shit once again.
We have to be up at 4am.
Driver picks us up at 430am, with a 1 hour drive to airport.
They also tell you not to drive between Saltillo and Monterrey when its dark out. {AWESOME}
We make it to the airport, alive.
Flight leaves at 730am to Houston.
Layover for an hour-ish.
Fly to Detroit. Arrive around 2pm.

It was THE longest 4 days. I was more tired from that than I was giving birth two twice and the 4 days after that. Seriously, no lie.
{Pic Jer sent me}

While I was gone Jer held the house down. Like a fucking BOSS. Some mom's could never imagine leaving the house and kids to their husbands/dads/partner to tend to for that long. Not me though, I had zero stress going away knowing he could handle anything and everything those little blondies threw at him. {Literally and figuratively.} While I had stress about the safety of the trip and how Tracen would be without me there, my stress never laid under Jerek's parenting skills.

What I came home to was the best. A super clean house, laundry all done, and it smelled like the holiday candles had been brought out. There was a welcome home banner and picture of me and Tracen from DC and a love note from the boys.

I'm not trying to dog other dads/partners that can't handle the kids for a few hours {okay, I am, sorry} but as a mom, you should feel comfortable leaving the house with the person you choose to have children with. Know that they are just as good as you are raising and taking care of them while you're away, no matter the length of time. To me, whats the point then, we can't do it all, even though sometimes we have to.

While Jerek is one to brag about it shouldn't be, it should be the norm. All dads/moms/partners should be like this. Sure I probably would have folded the clothes differently than he did or cleaned differently but when it comes down to it, why pick apart the negatives when there are SO many positives! The kids were SO good for him, I mean SO good! Bedtime wasn't a big deal at all like I expected it to be. Jerek had 2 of the days off from work and took them on so many fun little adventures. They all were alive, fed and happy! I could have came home to a house that was toe up and would have been totally fine with it as long as the three of them were happy, had a good time together; the clean house was pure bonus!

So while I've been a little MIA from posting on here get ready because I've been writing like a mad women! Christmas decorations are going up this week {shhh!} and I have so many fun things planned for the last 6 weeks of
