Skylor Turns 2

On Wednesday's I usually talk wedding but today, two years ago, I had a baby and we all know I love talking about my babies more than my wedding! I recently wrote about my struggle with a miscarriage before Skylor here but also about his amazing birth story here so I'll wait if you need to catch up.

Ok.
Are you ready now?

This past weekend we had a small party to celebrate my little Bubble Guppies obsessed, chubby cheeked, nose scruncher baby toddler! It was almost just me, Jerek and the boys because I almost forgot to invite everyone over, my brain is fried lately people. Skylor is OBSESSED with Bubble Guppies, like last night he screamed for an hour while Jer tried putting him to bed saying "guppies, guppies, guppies" and pointing downstairs.

For the party I kept it simple and affordable (under $100). I was going to attempt making Bubble Guppie character cupcakes but scratched that idea and printed up the cupcake toppers here for free. I also printed some little cut out's of the Bubble Guppies characters for the under the water mural I made with streamers and balloons. It was a semi Pinterest fail because mine didn't look like the ones I saw online, whatever!

As for a gifts, we really don't need toys so I had this idea for a trampoline! I knew I didn't want a little personal jumping one nor did I want one of those 12 foot ones. I found this one and ordered right away. I sent out a text and there was about 6 households, including us, that decided to all go in on it together for a birthday gift for Skylor. I loved the idea of everyone throwing a little money in and getting something bigger instead of a bunch of toys that we defiantly don't need. While the gift obviously isn't just for Skylor it's hard when you have more than one at this young age to really differentiate with your other kids (Skylor got a wagon last year for his birthday from my mom, obviously it's for both kids, not like we could tell Tracen, SORRY YOU CAN'T SIT IN IT! Ya feel!)

I was slightly bummed because when I ordered it, it said it would deliver by 8 pm on Friday which was going to be great since the party was Saturday. I'm not sure what happen but unfortunately it didn't arrive till Monday the 27th. However this worked out much better because it took Jerek and I about 3 hours to put together. Don't be fooled, I only helped the last 30 minutes. BUT! The boys haven't stopped jumping on it since it was put together Monday night. I HIGHLY suggest you buy one, just have some wine handy when you are putting it together.

Last year for Tracen's 4th birthday I pretty much cried the entire time making his video and that was basically the same story while making Sky's 2nd birthday this week. Take a watch and make sure you kiss those babies, cousins, nieces and nephews extra hard tonight because they grow up so damn fast.

Summer Recap + Oh Hey Friday

I know I know, last Friday I talked about how excited I was for the Fall and this week I'm recapping summer. I often get excited about something that I obsess over it and forget that anything else is even possible to exist in life. Okay, that sounds dramatic but you get my drift.

Last summer I was either MEGA pregnant or was a new mother of two and it was all very overwhelming to be frank. I was scared out of my mind to leave the house with two kids. Scared to sleep more than a foot away from my newborn. Scared that I wouldn't loose the baby weight.

I have obviously left the house and Sky now sleeps in his crib just fine. Loosing all the baby weight is another story for a different day. One when I am brave, today I'm not that brave and I'll just talk about how bombdiggity this summer was!

In order to do this I picked my 5 favorite moments from the summer and am linking up with Karli & Amy! If you missed my guest post over on Karli's page here it is for your viewing pleasure! Without further mumble jumble, I give you my 5 top moments of Summer 2014!

1. Lake St. Clair Metropark- This was a recent little day trip that we took a few weeks ago and I keep thinking about it! I'm really contemplating heading there again since we have a 4-day weekend coming up!

2. Port Huron Beach- This was a little bit of a drive for us and we kinda sorta go 'turned around' ie: LOST {not my fault!} on the way home but the scenic route was a nice touch to such a fun day on the beach. This beach wasn't our favorite from the summer because it was pretty rocky but it was so nice to get out of town and escape for the day that it didn't matter!

3. My 28th Birthday-My actual birthday was spent at work and then at home, grilling and swinging with the boys, just how I like it! The weekend before was nothing crazy, I just requested that we go to dinner and grab a drink. All I wanted was to be with our favorite couple and be kids free! Tyler and I also acted like children and posed for pictures on top of blocks pushed together in a pyramid in downtown Detroit. Yolo bitches!

4. Skylor's 1st Birthday- It's crazy to think that last year I was a wobbling whale wearing grandma moo-moos. No really, I basically wore the same 5 outfits through out the week and laid out in our back yard in a sports bra and granny panties to sunbathe. I'm a hot mess I tell ya.  Fast forward a year later and my like Sky Sky is 1!We had family and friends over for a "ice cream social" themed first birthday and it was a ton of fun!

5. Troy Aquatic Center- This was the most recent family outing we had, last Saturday in fact! We'd been hearing about this place for a while now and it's not too far of a drive. After 5pm they cut the price in half {or something like that} so we went for a few hours for the twilight special to try it out. The place is total family zone and amazeballs! There were places to layout at, a nice concession stand, kidding pool & slide, big kid/adult water slides and an Olympic size zero entry pool {I think that is what it's called!} plus a splash pad and really nice restrooms/changing rooms! There is also, beach volley ball, a HUGE sandbox and a jungle gym. Needless to say it was a blast and we will be back! Sadly, after this weekend they close down for the season, but I did see on the website that they have an indoor portion! {Hello winter time when you need to wear your kids out!}

Well, there you have it guys! I basically am here to tell you that we need to sell our house and move closer to the water {and a big city.} It seems that this is where we enjoy being together the most! What do you say Jer ;)

Happy Birthday Jerek

We've been celebrating our birthday's together since I turned 13 and you came over to my first boy/girl birthday party in my backyard. I nearly shit myself when I found out you were attending, never mind the fact that you had a "girlfriend" at the time. Whats a girlfriend at the ripe age of 13 anyways. I was also in that real awkward 13 year old girl with braces, buck teeth and boobs too big for my body stage. hawwwwttt!

Lets recap the past few birthdays.

For your 25th birthday, I had a surprise party for you and you were actually surprised! I also managed
to not burst into a blabbering goon and spill all the details to you! Points for me!

For your 26th birthday I set up a small trip with your sister and brother-in-law which involved the mega bus, secret mimosas in McDonald cups and a trip to Chicago will with lots of booze and shopping!

For your 27th birthday....We found out the sex of our second little babe and celebrated with family.

I swear I keep trying to out do the birthday plans every year but it's getting hard and pricey! So it only makes sense that this year, for your 28th birthday we bought a house! NBD right? Right!

Since this house will basically be yours, mine and the kids birthday, Christmas, Easter, St. Patties day and Chinese New Years gift for the next 15 years I decided that this was a cheaper and possibly more sentimental gift. You have always been my number one fan, supporter and very best friend. You are the light that guides me through the darkness and the voice of reason. Without you I'd be lost, but with you I am EVERYTHING. Happy Birthday Jerbear!!!
